Oh well - that didn't work. It only pasted the text, not the HTML. I guess I was mistaken in my previous understanding about what goes on. I had thought that the automatic generation of hyperlinks indicated preservation of non-text aspects, because (by coincidence) Outlook Express also creates such implicit hyperlinks.
Further testing will be needed to see if there's any way of posting HTML. For now, the best control of formatting I've come up with is to prepare the Comments in a text editor and paste into the Comments field. But this only carries the basic text formatting.
