See xfma0058: provide a convenient way to alter the template output structure, which we've discussed before. I've elevated the priority, since you ask.
Regarding your second point, see the new task xfma0079: support direct editing of InitExp and CleanupExp via double-click.
I agree that both of these extensions would simplify the process of creating new XFormDBF configurations.
