In order to clear either the initexp or the cleanupexp, all you need to do is enter a blank in the the GETEXP dialog and click on OK. I.e., so long as the length of what you enter is non-zero, it will be treated as the value to use, as opposed to looking like an Escape or Cancel from the dialog (which are no-ops).
This is not a bug. It's a deliberate, minor kludge to get around the limitations of VFP's GETEXP.
Also note this outstanding task, which would be a better solution, but is not essential to solving your immediate problem:
